Atlantic Ambulance Donates Defibrillator
to St. Mary’s High School
Robert White, right, director of operations for Atlantic Ambulance
Service, presents an automated external defibrillator to St. Mary’s
Head of School Dr. Ray Bastarache, center, and Athletic Director
Jeff Newhall.
The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association
(MIAA) now requires all member schools to have an Automated External
Defibrillator (AED) at all athletic competitions. Although St. Mary’s
presently has two AEDs located in the school, neither was designated
for St. Mary’s athletics.
St. Mary’s has a comprehensive
athletic program of 21 varsity sports (male and female) and 44 teams
from varsity, JV, freshmen and junior high levels. The recently donated
AED will be taken by the athletic trainer to all St. Mary’s
home games, according to Newhall.
