Emergency System Proves Successful for City of Newton
The City of Newton kept Cataldo EMS busy last weekend with a few large scale events that showcased the seamlessness of the emergency system set up in the City.
On Friday, February 18th 2011, an electrical fire forced nearly 500 elderly
residents to evacuate their homes. To reduce risk of further issues electricity
was shut off to the Towers of Chestnut Hill on Hammond Pond Parkway which caused
elevators to be temporarily out of order. Safe evacuation of elderly residents
was a
trying task as Cataldo's EMTs and Paramedics were required to carry some residents
down nearly 16 flights of stairs in stair chairs. Cataldo Ambulance Service
transported three residents to Newton-Wellesley Hospital with non-life threatening
incidents. To see this scene in action please follow the photo link to thebostonchannel.com
