CATALDO AMBULANCE GOLF TOURNAMENT RAISES $28,000 FOR AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY
SOMERVILLE, Massachusetts – Cataldo Ambulance Service proudly presented the American Cancer Society with a $28,000 donation as a result of the 18th Annual Cataldo Ambulance Service Golf Tournament, which took place May 17th, 2010 at Atkinson Country Club in Atkinson, NH.
Funds raised at the tournament will be donated to the American Cancer Society’s
AstraZeneca Hope Lodge and to cancer research.
“Over the past three years, our charity golf tournament has raised close to $90,000 to benefit the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge and the families that stay there,” said Dennis Cataldo, Vice President of Cataldo Ambulance Service. “We began hosting the annual company golf tournament back in 1993 with the intention of making a small yearly contribution to the American Cancer Society. Now, after all these years, the tournament which began with very little fanfare has become a huge success on the road to raising over $350,000 for the fight against cancer.”
The AstraZeneca Hope Lodge Boston, located at 125 South Huntington Avenue, provides a ‘home away from home’ made available at no cost to patients undergoing active outpatient treatment for cancer. Since opening in 2008, the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge has provided over 10,000 nights of free lodging and more than 4,000 rides to and from treatment appointments, saving patients more than $1.6 million in hotel and travel expenses.
